Smart City: 500+ SenseCAP LoRaWAN Devices Deployed to Mitigate Urban Heat Island in Cagliari Italy

To address the challenges of urban heat waves, WiData and Abinsula, our partners in Italy, deployed 500+ SenseCAP sensors including SenseCAP S1000 weather sensor along with SenseCAP S2100 LoRaWAN DTU as well as other SenseCAP LoRaWAN sensors at more than 300 sites in Cagliari for the Cagliari Smart City Project. This project offers urban heat island monitoring for the local administration to take action on the intervention in the building color and green space planning to better mitigate the heat island effect.

FarmBeats for Students by Microsoft & Seeed: Smart Agriculture Education Kit for Individuals, Schools, Local Communities, and SDGs

Through collaborating with FFA and Seeed, Microsoft developed “FarmBeats for Students Program” to facilitate technological empowerment of young people to learn about AI, Machine learning, and IoT in agriculture. This affordable, hands-on and learning-by-doing education can enable the students to understand automatic irrigation and fertilization applications, crop yield prediction, and pragmatic tools to tackle the world’s hunger issues. Thereby, this Program seeks to accelerate the UN’s SDGs 2, 10, 4, 1, 5, 9, 8, 6, 7, 12, 11, 13 and 17.

Open Innovation for Marine Pollution: Wind-Powered Sailing Robot “Protei” Is Cleaning Oil Spills, Material Wastes, and Chemical Pollutants in the Ocean

In order to resolve the world’s oil spill issues caused by the Deepwater Horizon Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, Protei (a wind-powered and automated sailing fleet robot) was developed by MakerBay and Seeed. By shifting its shapes according to water waves and wind directions, the robot has been useful in collecting and cleaning thin sheens of light oil on water surfaces. Thanks to the fact that it is robustly built to survive in harsh weather conditions and hazardous chemical zones, it is now also used to clean material wastes and other chemical pollutants in the ocean. Now, Protei is the ongoing result of glocal open innovation communities. Accordingly, this Project seeks to achieve the UN’s SDGs 6, 14, 11, 15, 3, 1, 7, 9, 8, 12, 13 and 17.

Seeed x Microsoft x APH: Code Jumper for Inclusive Education on Computer Coding for Children with Special Needs

Code Jumper Kit is an innovative educational tool designed for students with visual difficulties to enhance their computer coding and programming skills, developed by Microsoft, APH and Seeed. The Project facilitates students to gain access to, and learn about the latest technological information with joy, through which they can be self-empowered to do whatever they put their minds to do at present and in the future. By and large, Code Jumper Project contributes to the UN’s SDGs 4, 10, 8, 1, 17, 9, 16 and 5.

SenseCAP LoRaWAN IIoT Solutions for OPEN Global IoT Education Project for Future Jobs and Resilient Livelihoods

In the OPEN Global IoT Education Project, SenseCAP LoRaWAN IIoT solution has been deployed in order to help solve diverse local challenges for children and local communities towards a sustainable and resilient world. Through their participation, they are self-empowered to learn specific skills to prepare for newly emerging jobs in the future. In this way, the Project aims to achieve the UN’s SDGs 4, 5, 12, 11, 13, 9, 8, 17, 6, 7, 14, 15, 2 and 1.
