Navigating the Key Changes in U.S. Tariff Policy: An Essential Guide for Fusion Orders

In light of the U.S. government’s plan to remove the de minimis tax exemption for parcels valued under USD 800 from China (including Hong Kong SAR) as of May 2, 2025, all retail orders will have to pay for duties before they enter the country.

To ensure our U.S. customers continue to enjoy a smooth shopping experience—and to help you avoid unexpected last-mile COD fees—we will introduce the following methods starting April 25:

1. Orders Currently in Production（Orders  before April 25）

The U.S. customs code for PCBA is 8473301180, and the current tariff rate is 45%.  To help your order clear U.S. customs smoothly and reduce any potential tariff-related costs, we’re making a few temporary adjustments to our shipping process:

• Orders that are currently in production will be held once manufacturing is complete.
• Shipping will resume on May 6, after the U.S. government officially announces the updated tariff policy on May 2.
• The applicable tariff rate for your order will be determined based on the official guidelines released at that time.
• We’ll reach out to you directly to coordinate the pre-payment of tariffs before your order ships.
• If you would like to pre-pay the tariffs and have your order shipped immediately, you can contact us at fusion@seeed.io to arrange for the pre-payment and prompt shipping.
  

2. Orders Not Yet in Production（Orders after April 25）

For orders that have not yet entered production:

• Production will be temporarily paused until the new customs policy is clarified. And we will contact you to confirm whether you would like to proceed with your order soon.
• If you decide to move forward and accept the new tariff regulations, we will coordinate the pre-payment of tariffs before resuming production.
• Alternatively, if you prefer not to proceed due to the tariff changes, we completely understand and can process a refund upon request.
  

3. Planning to Place an Order But Have Concerns？

If you’re ready to place an order but have concerns about the upcoming tariff changes, we’ve got you covered.

We offer a DTP (Duties & Taxes Paid) service, you can prepay 45% of the estimated tariff at the time of ordering, and we’ll begin production right away.

Prefer to wait? No problem — you’re welcome to hold off until the official U.S. policy is announced on May 2, so you can confirm the final tariff cost before placing your order.


Duty Tariff Paid (DTP) Service

Starting April 27, a new “Prepaid Import Duties” column will be added to the checkout page on our official website, enabling 1-click calculation and collection of import taxes and fees. The DTP service will be enabled by default for all retail parcels shipped from China to the United States.

Please be aware that according to U.S. CBP regulations, you’ll still be the official Importer of Record and may need to provide basic clearance information, such as your SSN or EIN.

Why Are We Making These Changes?

• Transparency & Predictability:

Pre-paying import tariffs ensures there are no surprise costs upon delivery, giving you more control and clarity throughout the process.

• Staying Compliant with Evolving Regulations:

As international shipping regulations continue to evolve, these changes are necessary to  ensure we stay compliant and can continue providing reliable service to our U.S. customers.

What Does This Mean for You?

• For orders shipped to the U.S. after April 25, 2025 (CST):

Import tariffs will need to be pre-paid, and Seeed Studio will manage the customs process on your behalf.

• Small Packet Shipping Suspension:

This shipping method will be temporarily suspended. Please choose from the available alternative shipping options at checkout.
