May 30-31th: Meet Seeed Studio at AI for Good Global Summit 2024

We are excited to announce that Seeed Studio will participate in the AI for Good Global Summit 2024, happening on May 30-31 in Geneva, Switzerland. This prestigious event, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with 40 UN agencies and the Government of Switzerland, serves as a global platform to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Violet Su, our Business Development Manager, will speak at the workshop titled “tinyML: Pioneering Sustainable Solutions in Resource-Limited Environments.” This workshop is scheduled for May 30th from 9:30 to 17:30 CEST at CICG Room 11, gathering leaders and experts in different public and private sectors from education to healthcare and environments etc.
Besides, from 14:00 to 18:00 on May 31st (CEST), Violet will be demonstrating our Hazard Response Mission Pack at the workshop titled “Forecasting the future: AI in early warning systems” at CICG Room F. The workshop seeks to present existing AI use cases and their potential to enhance the various parts of multi-hazard early warning systems, fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders for the achievement of Early Warnings for All (EW4All).

In addition to the workshops, Seeed will showcase our latest AIoT products and solutions designed to address global challenges. 1. TinyML: Pioneering Sustainable Solutions in Resource-Limited Environments
TinyML refers to the deployment of machine learning algorithms on small, low-power hardware. This approach has vast potential for innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solutions. Throughout the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to engage with leaders and experts from diverse fields such as education, healthcare, environment, and development. They will share use cases of tinyML in action, demonstrating its real-world applications and impact on society.
Violet will delve into how tinyML can revolutionize various sectors by providing efficient data processing at the edge, reducing the need for extensive resources, and minimizing the overall carbon footprint. She will also share some innovative projects built on Seeed edge AI and IoT products with TinyML. The projects range from waste management to early detection and warning for flood, and tree disease recognition, and many others. These inspiring projects are made by enthusiastic and creative community members, which can surely help inspire more people to embark on the journey and dive deeper into the world of how AI can be applied more widely and extensively for social good.
Other speakers include Andrea Dunbar, Focus Activity Manager Data & AI at CSEM; Didem Ün Ateş, Chief Executive at LotusAI Ltd; Fran Baker, Director of Sustainability & Social Impact at Arm; Marco Zennaro, Research Scientist at Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics; etc. The workshop promises to be an enlightening day with a variety of sessions on how tiny machine learning can be leveraged to develop sustainable and scalable solutions, especially in areas with limited resources.
2. Forecasting the Future: AI in Early Warning Systems
In the context of the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) Initiative, the integration of AI stands as a significant yet mainly underexplored avenue for enhancing the speed, effectiveness and reach of early warning systems. This workshop, organized by the AI for Early Warnings for All Sub-Group, seeks to address this gap by improving disaster risk knowledge, advancing monitoring, and forecasting capabilities, optimizing warning dissemination and communication, and enhancing preparedness and response measures.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore innovative AI solutions that could contribute to early warning systems. Seeed Studio will present the Hazard Response Mission Pack during the coffee break, which is an attempt to explore how the combination of AI and IoT in a portable suitcase can help contribute to effective disaster response.
The Mission Pack is compact to carry around, with the following products from sensor networks to edge computing for remote sensing, data transmission, data processing, inference and analysis:
- LoRaWAN gateway to provide data coverage
- LoRaWAN sensors to gather environmental data
- LoRaWAN trackers to get location data for assets and personnels
- SenseCAP Watcher as the physical AI agent to sense the surrounding environment
- reComputer Jetson device to run large language models on premise for quick inference and analysis
- BYOS – combination of Wio Tracker 1110 Dev Board and Grove Sensors to build your own sensors according to the needs of different scenarios
