🎯 Two Focus Areas

This year’s challenge is organized into two main focus areas, each divided into two specific tracks:

1. Visual Impairments

  • Track 1 – Adaptation for OUTDOOR Activities for People with Visual Impairments

Outdoor activities offer numerous benefits for individuals with visual impairments, including physical fitness, social interaction, and emotional well-being. However, navigating outdoor environments can present unique challenges, such as uneven terrain, obstacles, and changes in elevation. Creating adaptations for outdoor activities can enhance accessibility and independence for individuals with visual impairments, enabling them to explore nature, participate in recreational sports, and engage in outdoor adventures.

  • Track 2 – Adaptation for INDOOR Activities for People with Visual Impairments

Indoor environments encompass various settings where individuals with visual impairments spend a significant amount of time, including homes, workplaces, educational institutions, and public buildings. Adapting indoor activities to accommodate visual impairments enhances accessibility, promotes independence, and facilitates participation in daily life activities such as cooking, cleaning, reading, and socializing.

2. Mobility Impairments

  • Track 1 – Accessible HOME & TOOLS for People with Mobility Impairments

Innovative solutions for accessible homes and tools address a wide range of needs and challenges faced by individuals with mobility impairments, including mobility limitations, dexterity issues, and ergonomic considerations. These solutions may include adaptive furniture, assistive devices for personal care and hygiene, home automation systems for environmental control, and mobility aids for indoor navigation. By optimizing home environments and providing specialized tools, these solutions empower individuals with mobility impairments to live more independently and participate more fully in home life and activities.

  • Track 2 – Accessible SPORTS & HOBBIES for People with Mobility Impairments

Sports and hobbies play a crucial role in promoting physical health, social integration, and overall well-being for individuals with mobility impairments. However, traditional sports and recreational activities may pose barriers to participation for people with mobility challenges. Creating accessible sports and hobbies involves adapting existing activities or developing new ones to accommodate diverse abilities and provide inclusive opportunities for engagement and enjoyment.
