On November 13th, as part of the Maker Faire Shenzhen 2023 satellite events, we embarked on a journey to unveil the magic behind Shenzhen’s manufacturing power. The one-day factory HI tour was organized by Seeed Studio Fusion team and it provided participants with an exclusive and immersive experience, offering a close-up look at the intricate processes of actual manufacturing. Now, let me walk you through the adventure!
Our journey began at 8:30 AM with a groovy pick-up at Vanke Design Commune – the venue of Maker Faire Shenzhen 2023. The air was buzzing with excitement as we hopped on the bus, ready for a day filled with surprises.
Our initial destination was the Seeed Agile Manufacturing Center, where we guided our visitors through the comprehensive production journey—from the material warehouse to the production workshops and the finished product warehouse.
At the Seeed Agile Manufacturing Center, agility and professionalism take center stage. The facility’s agility is emphasized through cellular manufacturing, ensuring the swift delivery of small batch products. Flexible manufacturing further underscores the fulfillment of diverse customer needs, spanning from PCBA to mass production or customization. Rapid prototyping adds another layer, with a remarkable turnaround speed for sample making and customer delivery.
The embodiment of professionalism is evident in the wind tunnel laboratory dedicated to testing the SenseCAP series products to meet industry standards. Embracing digitalization, the facility utilizes a digital production management system, enhancing production capacity and efficiency, with products seamlessly deployed across the factory. Commitment to excellence extends to multi-functional testing, and the facility holds certifications from ISO9001, ROHS, and UL, ensuring the highest standards in operations.
Additionally, the deployment of a kanban system in the warehouse serves dual purposes—monitoring and displaying factory temperature and humidity. Equipped with SenseCAP sensors and powered by the SenseCAP Gateway, this system ensures stable and fast transmission of data, promptly notifying workers of any abnormal activity.
This immersive experience allowed guests to closely witness Seeed Studio’s intricate product creation process. They gained insights into modular and flexible production processes, explored the wind tunnel laboratory, delved into the digital production management system, and observed the meticulous mold testing process.
After lunch break, the afternoon session transported participants to a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Manufacturing Facility. The tour traced the entire production of PCB, from drilling to plating and screening. Visitors also got a chance to explore the high-speed automatic printing machines, precise chemical copper plating PCB production lines, efficient screen printing equipment, as well as the quality control processes and procedures in place.
The final leg of the journey delved into mold manufacturing. Ever wondered how those sleek molds for your gadgets are born? The Molding Factory spilled the deets! From CNC machining to laser cutting, we got an inside look at the birthplace of high-quality molds.
As the day concluded, the bus returned participants to the Vanke Design Commune, leaving everyone with a profound appreciation for the magic happening behind the scenes in Shenzhen’s manufacturing landscape.
