New at Seeed: Hazard Response Mission Pack. Apply Now for Free Kit to Fight Disasters!
Dear Community!
Not more than a month ago we joined the yearly Fablab conference in Bhutan, thrilled by this years’ theme – “Designing Resilient Futures“. We have been always wanted to help designing sustainable solutions that address real-world challenges.
Last year, we’ve launched a community-driven contest of IoT Into The Wild to encourage the community to create innovative solutions to address conservation challenges. That was 2022.
Now we are trying to mix “iot into the wild” with the Environmental disaster topic, an escalating phenomena that threatens the delicate coexistence between humans and nature on our shared planet. As these disasters intensify in frequency and severity, they disrupt ecosystems, deplete resources, and displace communities. From devastating wildfires and hurricanes to rising sea levels and extreme heatwaves, the consequences of human-induced climate change are evident.
“At Seeed Studio, we believe that the key to achieving a sustainable future lies in our ability to strike a balance between protecting humans from nature, while also protecting nature from humans. Advanced perception systems play a crucial role in achieving this delicate balance, by allowing us to harness the power of technology to better understand and adapt to our environment. By using these tools to empower ourselves and protect the natural world, we can build a future where both humans and nature can thrive in harmony.”
Eric Pan, Seeed’s CEO
This is where the Hazard Response Mission Pack comes in, and envision the collaboration with our Ranger Davide Gomba, from Officine Innesto, Italy
Hazard Response Mission Pack is a comprehensive solution designed for optimized disaster preparedness[1], management, and response. This pack includes robust devices for data transmission, data processing, user interface, precise tracking, intelligent visual analysis, and custom sensor development for environmental monitoring. These devices work together to provide a robust yet flexible system for real-time data collection, analysis, and response, enabling efficient management and mitigation of hazard situations.
[1] WFP defines emergency preparedness as “Actions, arrangements, and procedures in anticipation of an emergency to ensure that the response when needed, be rapid, appropriate and effective.” (Source: WFP’s Programme Guidance Manual)
The Hazard Response Mission Pack consists of five different cornerstones of our SenseCAP family products offer:
- A LoRaWAN gateway, allowing sensors to communicate with a node and broadcast their readings to SenseCAP Cloud or your favorite Cloud
- SenseCAP S2103 LoRaWAN® CO2, Temperature, and Humidity and SenseCAP S2105 – LoRaWAN® Soil Moisture, Temperature and EC Sensor
- Wio Tracker 1110 and several Grove Sensors to make your own tracking device.
- reComputer J3010-Edge AI Device with NVIDIA Jetson Orin™ Nano 4GB module with webcam and several pre-trainsed models, to bring TinyML machine learning to the edge
- Multiple SenseCAP T1000 LoRaWAN Trackers, able to monitor movements and activities on the field
- SenseCAP Indicator to visualize the data
This kit addresses small independent groups of individuals (or even one person team) willing to monitor and record natural events and bring them online, for community and scientific purposes, with the idea of learning to prevent big disasters and casualties.
Yet the kit can be easily integrated with existing monitoring systems. In this use case scenario – as much, if not more interesting – a System Integrator / Civil Defense group can add the later trends in sensor monitoring (AIoT and Tiny Machine Learning) in a very customizable and adaptive solution.
In both ways, feel free to apply for a kit or ping us for more information.
