Seeed’s First Product for Amazon Sidewalk – XIAO nRF52840 Module Has Been Successfully Integrated
In August 2023, we proudly announced our collaboration with Amazon Sidewalk. We have successfully integrated and certified the XIAO nRF52840 Module for Amazon Sidewalk. This module will empower developers to create their own Bluetooth LE devices with Amazon Sidewalk capabilities and explore the vast potential of Sidewalk-enabled IoT solutions.
Amazon Sidewalk is a secure community network designed to provide cloud connectivity to low-power, low-bandwidth IoT devices that transmit simple data packets rather than large media files like streaming videos. The network helps connected devices like outdoor lights, motion sensors, trackers, and other sensors of various kinds to work more effectively and extend their capabilities in and beyond the customers’ homes. The provided diagram illustrates an overview of the Amazon Sidewalk network infrastructure and how Sidewalk-enabled devices connect to the AWS cloud via Sidewalk Bridges. Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840 Module for Amazon Sidewalk
The XIAO nRF52840 Module is based on the Nordic nRF52840 chip, featuring an FPU and operating at speeds of up to 64 MHz. It supports Bluetooth 5.0 and boasts ultra-low power consumption, drawing as little as 5 μA in deep sleep mode. Additionally, it incorporates lithium battery charge management. Despite its compact form factor of 21 x 17.5mm, the XIAO nRF52840 Module offers advanced functionality with an onboard digital microphone and a 6-axis IMU.
As an Amazon Sidewalk-supported module, the XIAO nRF52840 brings unique values to the integrated device by extending its range from home to community and enabling automatic device connection to the Sidewalk network. This helps provide device makers with opportunities to develop a vast array of products that enable a variety of IoT use cases. These use cases include pet and asset trackers, home appliances, wearable devices for monitoring health conditions, thermostats for monitoring home temperature, anomaly detection for predictive maintenance, and more.
