01. Seeed Studio Wins “WSIS Prize 2023 Champion” Certificate for Using AIoT for Environment at UN ITU: Global Recognition of IoT2Wild Contest!

On March 15th, Seeed Studio was awarded “WSIS Prize 2023 Champion” prize certificate at the UN ITU, in Geneva, Switzerland. It’s a UN-level of recognition for the success of IoT2Wild Contest 2022 and the usage of ICTs for environment, which was awarded at ITU’s 14th World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2023. 02. Wrap-up: Edge AI Industry Solutions, Partners, and Seeed Products at ISC West 2023

ISC West – one of the leading comprehensive and converged security trade events in the U.S. – took place in Las Vegas, 2023. 01. Smart City: 500+ SenseCAP LoRaWAN Devices Deployed to Mitigate Urban Heat Island in Cagliari, Italy

To address the challenges of urban heat waves, WiData and Abinsula deployed 500+ SenseCAP sensors, including SenseCAP S1000 10-in-1 Compact Weather Sensor, SenseCAP S2100 LoRaWAN DTU, and SenseCAP LoRaWAN sensors at 300+ sites for Cagliari Smart City Project. This project offers real-time urban heat island monitoring data for local authorities to take action on green space planning to better mitigate the heat island effect. Discover more here!

02. Smart Black Soldier Fly Farming in Tanzania: Using SenseCAP Sensors and Outdoor Gateway for Sustainable Livestock Feed Production!

Spearheaded by Tanzania Open Innovation Organization (TOIO), local university students and citizens in Tanga co-created “BSF Farming – Creating Protein Content” project – a resource-efficient and low-cost protein production method by monitoring and optimizing BSFs’ living environment. This has been done by deploying Seeed’s SenseCAP LoRaWAN sensors, SenseCAP Outdoor Gateway, SenseCAP Portal, and SenseCAP Mate App. Check out for more!

03. Running GPT on a Raspberry Pi: How to Build Your Own AI Device With Seeed’s reTerminal DM

reTerminal DM is a Panel PC, HMI, PLC, IIoT Gateway all-in-one device powered by Raspberry Pi CM4, with 10.1” IP65 front panel and rich industrial interfaces, and natively integrated with Node-RED and supports Raspberry Pi-based software ecosystem. We made some attempts to run GPT in the reTerminal DM, so that it can implement and demonstrate AI chatbot’s basic functions on reTerminal DM, such as answering input questions and actualizing output operations. 02. Get Started With SenseCAP Indicator (ESP32S3&RP2040 4-Inch Touch Screen)

SenseCAP Indicator is a 4-inch touch screen driven by ESP32 and RP2040 dual-MCU and supports Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/LoRa communication. The board comes with Type C and Grove interfaces, supports ADC and IIC transmission protocols, and can easily connect to other peripherals with rich GPIOs. 01. Getting Started With Cochl.Sense on NVIDIA® Jetson Devices

🌈 VI. Community Project Spotlight

01. Design and Implementation of Node-RED Based, Open-Source SCADA Architecture for a Hybrid Power System Using Wio Terminal

This project presents a low-cost, low-power, open-source SCADA system for hybrid renewable energy systems. The system utilizes two remote terminal units (RTUs) and a laptop to communicate with all actuators and measure vital system characteristics. Node-RED is used for data processing, while Wio Terminal displays sensor values in real-time. Learn more here.

02. Smart Jacket for Caving Based on Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C3 and Wio Terminal

“SAJAC” is an innovative, smart jacket, specifically designed for caving expeditions. This jacket incorporates advanced technology (Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C3 and Wio Terminal), that allows explorers to monitor caves’ environmental conditions in real-time, and request SOS when needed using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Long Range (LoRa) communication protocols. Learn more from the project documentation here.

03. FoG Parkinson’s Wearable Device Based on Seeed Studio XIAO RP2040

The objective of this project is to design a wearable device that can assist Parkinson’s patients who experience freeze of gait (FoG) issues. The wearable device can provide sensory cues to the patients when they experience FoG issues, and help them overcome and restore their normal walking gait. 04. Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C3-Based Emergency Call and Location Device

By using Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C3, an emergency call and location tracking device has been made to provide safety and security measures for individuals in emergency situations. By providing real-time location data and enabling individuals to send out an emergency signal when needed, the device can help reduce the risk of harm and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of emergency response efforts. 05. Pipeline Clog Detection Based on Wio Terminal

Pipeline clogs can have serious and destructive effects on industrial operations. Clogs can occur for a variety of reasons, such as the build-up of debris, corrosion, and other types of damage. Another destructive effect of pipeline clogs is environmental damage. How to prevent and mitigate this challenge? By making a “Pipeline Clog Detection” system using AI and Machine Learning with Wio Terminal!  This AI system uses flow rate sensor data to detect clogs in pipelines by analyzing changes in flow rates that may indicate a blockage. 06. Salt Water Tracker (SWT) Based on Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840 Sense

Saltwater intrusion is a significant challenge for rice paddies and human health in Vietnam. Leaves turn yellow and people get more diseases because of high concentration of salt in water. Thereby, an inspired maker made a “Salt Water Tracker (SWT)” on the basis of Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840 Sense, through integrating salt water sensor system on a HoverGames drone. It’s a device that can monitor and regulate various salt levels in water.
