We are geared up to introduce our latest product Techbox at SXSW, a series of plug and make DIY kits in 3 levels based on our very famous grove product line. Why SXSW? We are all itching to see what creativity community will make as we provide easy-to-use electronics tool kits. Before officially revealing our product next week, here is a sneak preview of demos that we will showcase in the show.
These nifty demos are designed by our in-house artist Shihui Wang who has been working closely with our engineering team in the past 3 months after she complished her studies of New Media Art in LUCA School of Arts.
Demo 1 Play with Light and Structure
Button-controlled LED is the most classic interactive project for beginners. But what about a million of light via reflection? Inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s infinity mirrored room, you can quickly create a fancy lampshade or an installation with a touch sensor, a LED and silver reflective paper.
This might be the fastest way to create a painting. Hold a bunch of markers on one hand and a motor attached with a blank paper on the other. What you need to do as a master artist is to trigger the motor to spin and sign your name when finished.
Demo 3 DNA in Motion
The demo is inspired by the structure of DNA. I’m sure you could create more interesting and crazy interactive installation with your own imaginations and creativity.
Although this is our first time to attend this event, SXSW has put the maker movement under the spotlight in recent years . Joi Ito, Director of the MIT Media Lab, and Tim Brown, CEO of IDEO had a panel discussion about THE FUTURE OF MAKING in SXSW interactive 2014. If you are into the maker movement, you should definitely check out SXSW Create to meet Dale Dougherty for reflection on Making a Maker City and enjoy hands-on experience of playing 3D printers and drones.
