New Product Post – More Powerful Cubieboard!

The past few months we’ve been building up to this week’s theme, the Cubieboard.  In April we discussed the Cubieboard, a more robust take on the Raspberry Pi®. Then in May, we introduced Raspberry Pi® accessories like the 7” high resolution display and the the mini wireless keyboard with built-in touchpad which also work with Cubieboard. This week we’ll be delving a little deeper.

The Cubieboard team, which had a successful run on Indiegogo this past November, has been hard at work improving their product. They have recently released the Cubieboard A20, an upgraded version which includes a dual-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor and 1GB memory with a faster clock speed. They are so popular we’re currently out of stock, but we have a second batch arriving next week. Make sure you click the Notify Me button, so you can purchase yours as soon as they come in. You’ll also want to pick up the custom prototyping board for Cubieboard which has all of the pins broken out to headers for jumper wire connections and a VGA port for connecting a monitor or TV.

When you’re done building your project, we have three different enclosures to choose from. Our transparent acrylic case gives you basic, sturdy protection, while our other two molded enclosures give your Cubieboard a more polished, professional look. We have a frosted, semitransparent case and a black and white one. They both provide easy access to all of the ports and have an easy-open slide top.

From our Grove line, we have two brilliant IOT (Internet of Things) solutions from openPicus:  the Grove –Flyport WiFi Kit and the Grove – Flyport GPRS Kit. They eliminate the hassle of building an IOT node by including a microcontroller, wireless communication module, and extendable sensor/actuator network in one package. Both kits also incorporate Grove connectors, so you can add different modules to beef up your node. In addition, development time is reduced with full software support: a free IDE, a Grove library, and a miniUSB programmer.

If you caught our article on the Xadow, you’ll be glad to know that we have a Xadow Metal Frame. This attractive casing protects your board and provides a great mechanism for wearing your creations. This is a limited version, so be sure to pick up yours today.

For our mechanical hackers, we have a must-have tool box. The Basic Fastener Kit contains all of the basic building blocks: screws, nuts, cable ties, etc. This kit will come in handy for any number of tasks whether you’re tidying up a project with cable ties or fastening your PCB to an enclosure.  Plus, it’s light weight and portable. You can easily add it to your backpack when you’re on the go.

As usual, there were a lot of great products to talk about this week.  If you want to check out more, go to our New Arrivals page. There you can find the items described in this article and a whole lot more.

Until next time, keep on making.
