Opps, i was lost in Categories, please help!
Since various kinds of products were added to our catalog, the category structure we are using has became a problem. The user experience is much worse than it should be, it’s not very convenient for people to find something they want. Therefore, we created a new menu for the store, but before we replace the current one, we want to hear your suggestions 🙂
The PDF file showed the new store menu, if you found anything confusing, please leave a comment, or directly tweak it though our WIKI page:

Thank you for your help!

Touch screen
You have a touch screen display under lcd that should also be here,
gagets->tools is a long list, you might want to separate it into tools and accessories
I would add the oscilliscope probes and adapaters there as wel
Logic Sniffer 16-bit Input Buffer Wing also belong in acessorries adapters.
Grouping the grove and brick starter kits with the magic mirror is quite confusing.
Also please keep tbe specials and New products pages, with clear navigational links.
Rainbowduino should be listed under microcontrollers.
The cube and the 8×8 RGB matrix should be linked to it and also linked to optoelectronics
Hi Guys,
I have made a few major changes to the categories list over at the wiki page. I understand that as a developer its sometimes difficult to try to forgo “logical ordering” and understand the website user’s mindset to help him/her find the products easily. I tried looking at the list as a noob customer and thought of how he would try to find things. For example eventhough an FT232 programmer doesnt contain a microcontroller, it should nevertheless be categorised under “microcontrollers” because thats where a new comer would first look. Hope this helps. If you think I made it worse, you can always revert back to an earlier revision using the “View History”. 🙂

Hope this wiki page would be easier. Thanks!
I prefer the new one, just don’t forget to put an “everything” section !

One suggestion: adding a tagging system would be nice so you could navigate/search by tags as well as categories (a product can only have one category, but many tags)
it would help make things a bit more discoverable if you don’t know exactly what category the thing you’re looking for falls under
you could even implement the categories you’ve outlined above as a hierarchy of tags. For example: “10 segment LED gauge bar” would be tagged with “display” and “led matrix”, but you could also add it to “components”… This leverages the fact that you can have items under several tags, but if you stay with a strict category system an item can only have one category…
just a thought.
One thing that always gets me is when someone sends me an email with a word document attached. Usually the word document has very little information in it that could have been plainly displayed in the mail message itself.
So – I see a parallel between that and the pdf posted here. I know it’s more work for someone to do, but it would have been much more convenient for people if it could have been posted as a web page instead of the pdf. Acrobat isn’t exactly a fast application these days…
Just a suggestion.
