The shield of the shields, or the motherboard of the MCUs?

Jack Gassett lifted an idea of REDe (Rapid Electronics Design Environment) based on FPGA. Check it out here: http://www.gadgetfactory.net/gf/project/butterfly_main/linkedapps/?linkedapp_id=5

What if we have a shield that could transform into many other cousins? 🙂

  1. This could be interesting, if the right set of parts and adapters can exist at the right price point. There are several sites I have seen trying to do this, but the price is prohibitive. It is clear that it could be done, there are plenty of commodity routers/access points that can sell for $250 when it comes to get started. Unless you re-purpose a dying router or other device someone has figure out how to reprogram. This can lead to interesting project, but by the time they get worked out, the source is gone. What set are you proposing to do first? Some of the gadget factory items are very nice, but some have had a rocky start. Getting the piece right is a real challenge.
