For getting started I followed https://wiki.seeedstudio.com/XIAO_BLE/ and I got it working on macOS 10.15 only by:
1. using Seeed nRF52 mbed-enabled v2.7.2 library
2. editing its boards.txt and adding this line: xiaonRF52840.upload.tool.default=nrfutil
